London 1888

A young girl raced through the dark seeking asylum. The man was only a little ways behind her. He was teasing her by letting her think she was getting away from him and she knew it. Then she saw the steeple in the sky. It seemed like a heaven sent sign. She raced into the church. She saw the statue of the Madonna holding the infant Jesus and she dropped to her knees and began to pray.

"Please God help me." She prayed. That was when he slowly strolled into the small church. He leaned up against the door.

"I think God is busy tonight." He drawled. She closed her eyes in defeat. There was no where left to run.

"My God will protect me." She said without moving.

"Then why isn’t he here?" He asked. The girl stood up and faced him.. She stood bravely against him.

"He does not need to show himself for me to know he is here." She said. He laughed in her face.

"Ah such a brave child." He said. He touched her cheek and she jerked away. He smiled. "And feisty too." That was when she punched him. He was surprised and fell against a candleholder. Unfortunately for him that candleholder was in the shape of a large cross. His face began to burn and he howled in pain. He turned around and threw her against the wall.

She fell to the ground and looked up at him.

"Go ahead kill me." She said. He looked down at her.

"No girl. I have a much worse idea for you then death." He said. The look in his eyes filled her with fear.

Sunnydale-Present Day

Buffy contemplated just leaving the cemetery. It’s not like there were any vamps around anyway. She looked up at the sky.

"Come on. Give me something to do here." She said to the stars. They didn’t answer. She sighed and kicked a gravestone. It fell over. Buffy sighed again.

"Just my luck." She grumbled. Then someone tapped her on the shoulder.. She spun around and dropped them to the ground. Xander looked up at her.

"I didn’t do it." He said. Buffy smiled. She put a stake to his chest.

"How do I know you’re human still?" She teased. Xander smiled.

"Um wanna buy a power bar?" He asked. Buffy smiled and let him up.

"Yeah you’re human." She said. "Any self respecting vamp would not be trying to sell one of those things." She said. Xander smiled.

"I know they do suck don’t they?" He asked. Buffy nodded.

"Not exactly your best work." She said. Xander shrugged.

"I’m working on it." He said. Buffy nodded.

"Well I know why I am in a dark graveyard tonight but why are you?" She asked. Xander shrugged.

"I didn’t have anything better to do." He said. Buffy looked at him..

"You mean Anya released you from her grasp for two seconds?" Buffy asked. Xander nodded.

"Yeah well I figured we could spend some time apart." He said smiling.. Buffy nodded.

"That seems to be the sentiment around here." She said. Xander nodded..

"Riley too huh?" He asked. Buffy nodded.

"Yeah the whole calling him Jonathan thing and having Angel show up didn’t exactly thrill him." She said. Xander smiled.

"Been there done that." He said. Buffy laughed.

"Well I hate to tell you but there is like no action tonight." She said.

"Yeah I figured. Come on vamps we need something here." He called into the dark. Suddenly three appeared. Buffy shook her head.

"You had to ask." She said. Xander shook his head as the three vamps surrounded them. Buffy pulled out her stake and Xander pulled out a cross he kept for just this occasion. One vamp, a guy with dark hair held up his hands.

"We don’t want to fight." He said. Buffy shook her head.

"Um I’m sorry but we’re predestined enemies we kind of have to." She said. The vampire shook his head.

"We are just looking for Spike." He said. "And we were told you would know where to find him." Buffy and Xander looked at each other.

"Why do you want Spike?" Xander asked. The vampire looked at him.

"There is an old friend in town who wants to see him." He said. Buffy shook her head.

"Yeah well we don’t know where he is. We aren’t exactly best buddies." She said. The vampire nodded.

"That’s fine. If you do see him tell him the doll is here. He’ll know what that means." Then the three vamps receded into the shadows. Buffy watched them go. Xander looked at her.

"What was that all about?" He asked. Buffy shook her head.

"I don’t know but we’re going to find out." She said.

New York City 1922

Kam looked at the piano player. He was cute tonight. She didn’t know him but she thought she recognized him from somewhere. Tonight she was singing. Jazz numbers like usual. The man played the tune and Kam sang it. At the end the audience cheered like they always did. She knew she was good and she didn’t let anyone forget it.

"I don’t know you do I?" She asked. The blonde smiled.

"No doll I don’t think you do." He said. She smiled.

"Hmmm you look familiar though. You don’t play too bad." She said. He gave her a cocky smile.

"I know." He said. Kam shook her head and he got ready to play the next number. He played and she sang. All night it went on like that. They only spoke through the music and that was enough for both. By the end of the night the audience was going mad and Kam could’ve kept singing till dawn but she finished up one last number and the bootleg bar closed up shop. Now that the booze was gone the people were clearing out. A speakeasy wasn’t the best place to be caught these days. The place was finally clear and she looked at the player. Then she realized where she knew him from. He caught the look in her eye.

"So Kam how have things been going for you?" He asked. Kam smiled.

"You look different." She said. Spike smiled.

"People can change." He said. Kam smiled.

"We aren’t people." She said. Spike nodded.

"Yeah well technicalities." He said. Kam nodded.

"So what are you doing here?" She asked. Spike lit up a cigarette.

"Do I need a reason to be in New York doll?" He asked. She smiled.

"No but if you are here in my club you have probably do have a reason." She said. Spike smiled.

"Can’t get anything past you can I?" He said. Kam shook her head.

"Spike cut to the chase." She said. Spike shrugged.

"I was just looking for old Angelus." He said. Kam nodded.

"That’s what I figured." She said. She took the cigarette out of his hand. "Have you even seen him since Romany?" She asked. Spike shook his head.

"No but Dru is after me to find him and she is sure that he is here. So I figured why not stop by and say hello to one of his favorites. I figured you might know where he is." He said. Kam smiled and shook her head.

"No I haven’t seen him since the day we all split up and he took off with Darla." She said. "But I hear Darla is out in California. Maybe that’s where he is." She said. Spike shook his head.

"No California is exactly the place I want to go right now. I hear there is a Slayer in those parts." He said. "I figure me and Dru will head to Austria or something. I always did like music." He said. Kam smiled.

"See you around then." She said. Spike smiled.

"Yeah doll see you around." He said. He walked out of the speakeasy with his coat over his shoulder.

"So this Kam is an old girlfriend of Angel’s?" Buffy asked. Spike smiled at her.

"You honestly didn’t think you were the only one did you?" Spike asked. Buffy didn’t answer.

"So what does she want with you?" Xander asked. Spike shrugged.

"I don’t know maybe she wants to have a drink for old times sake." He said. Buffy shook her head.

"No these guys of hers made it sound pretty important." Buffy said. Spike shrugged.

"Well then I’ll go see her and we’ll talk it over and I’ll let you know if she is planning on ending the world. How’s that?" He asked. Buffy looked at him dubiously.

"Yeah right." She said. Spike smiled.

"Well it was worth a shot to see if you would believe me." He said. Then he walked out the door. That was all he was going to say to them. Xander sighed.

"So I guess we’ll never know who she is." Xander said looking at Buffy. Buffy stood up.

"No we are going to find out." She said. Xander smiled.

"I knew you were going to say that." He said. Buffy walked out the door in Spike’s tracks.

Spike walked and he thought about Kam. He hadn’t seen her since the day in the speakeasy. She had looked as gorgeous as ever with her honey brown hair falling over her face as she spoke. He had always liked Kam. But Drusila hadn’t. In fact she had pretty much hated Kam and was pretty jealous of her. Not that Spike blamed her. But Angelus had liked her.

She hadn’t been as vicious but she could come up with some pretty good schemes.

Now here he was on his way to see her after some eighty years. Eighty years didn’t make much difference to a vampire but a lot had changed since the last time he had seen her. He wasn’t the same guy she had known back in the good old days when Angelus wasn’t cursed and they all terrorized Europe together. He remembered the first time he had ever seen her.

London 1888

Drusila was in church praying. She liked to do that sometimes. It gave her a chance to think without Spike and Angelus hanging over her. They didn’t like church much. But she didn’t mind it. Except for the crosses. They were a little painful. She wasn’t alone tonight though. There was one other girl praying hard to God. Drusila began to laugh. The girl looked at her..

"Is something funny ma’am?" She asked in a small but offended voice.. Drusila nodded.

"God isn’t really listening." She said. The girl looked at her in shock.

"Then why are you here?" She asked. Drusila smiled.

"I am here to play." She said. The church doors opened. Drusila knew it was Spike before he said a word.

"Come on love it’s time to go." He said. Drusila shook her head.

"I am not ready yet. Me and the nice little girl are talking about God." She said. Spike noticed the girl for the first time. She wasn’t exactly little. Maybe seventeen, Spike thought.

"What’s your name doll?" He asked. She looked like a doll. Wide-eyed and innocent in a fragile sort of way.

"My name is Kammerone Stuart sir." She said. Spike nodded.

"Interesting name. Well this is Drusila and she likes people to talk to so would you walk with her a ways?" He asked. The girl nodded and stood up. Drusila took her hand and Spike trailed them slightly. He thought it was the last time this girl would ever see a church alive.

Later on Drusila had tried to bite her and she ran. So Spike, hating to see Dru pout the way she did gave chase. She ran right back to the church they had found her in.

"Go ahead kill me." She said. He looked down at her.

"No girl. I have a much worse idea for you then death." He said as his face changed into the hideous face of a vampire. Then he bit her. Then he had changed her. In the end she had been a lot of fun. Drusila had liked her until Kam got more attention from the boys singing then Drusila did. Kam was vain and she didn’t mind letting it show. So it had been a good thing when they had all split up but Spike missed her from time to time. He had always called her doll for the simple reason that she never lost that innocent look.

But now things were different. Everything was different.

Kam looked around her luxurious apartment. She looked at the door as it opened and she jumped up. She saw her three favorite pets enter.

"So did you find him?" She asked. The tallest one, John, shook his head.

"No but we found the Slayer. But she said she didn’t know where he was." John said. Kam nodded.

"Well he will come to me. In time that is. Now what about Angelus?" She asked. John sighed.

"It is true about the curse." He said. Kam looked at him sadly.

"Pity. I was hoping for some fun. Oh well." She said. She sat on her overstuffed sofa and sighed. "Well that’s all. Go away." She said. The three vamps obediently left. She made a face at the closed door.

"I am surrounded by idiots!" She exclaimed and she fell over on to her bed.

"I hope you don’t really mean that." A voice from the shadows said. Kam smiled. She knew that voice. Spike stepped out of the shadows. She sat up.

"No I didn’t mean that about everyone." She said. Spike smiled.

"How you doing doll?" He asked. Kam smiled.

"As well as can be expected considering I just found out that Angelus is a puppy dog now." She said. Spike nodded.

"Yes it is sad." He said in a regretful voice. Kam looked at him.

"I hope the Hellmouth doesn’t do that to everyone." She said. Spike looked up at her. He decided it would be best if she didn’t know about the slight problem in his head.

"No doll I’m the same as you left me." With a few modifications, he silently added. She smiled.

"Well good I need a little fun in this boring town." She said. She walked over to him. "So how is Dru?" She asked. Spike looked at her.

"Dru’s gone." He said quietly. Kam smiled inside but she didn’t show it.

"Too bad." She said. Spike caught the edge in her voice though.

"But I have found other ways to keep myself busy." He said. Kam looked at him.

"Like the Slayer?" She said. Spike smiled.

"Yeah she is a spot of fun every now and then." He said. Kam looked at him suspiciously.

"So why haven’t you killed her?" She asked. Spike shrugged.

Outside her window Buffy and Xander hid. They saw that the window was open just a little bit. So Buffy listened and Xander covered her.

"She’s tough I guess. I haven’t found the right opportunity." He said. Kam shook her head.

"You wouldn’t tell me if your life depended on it would you?" She asked. Spike looked at her.

"Tell you what?" He asked. Kam smiled.

"That you can’t bite a soul." She said ironically. Spike looked at her. Outside the window Buffy suppressed a giggle. Xander just shook his head.

"You’re losing that stealth edge Buff." He whispered. Buffy glared at him. "But I mean that in the nicest way possible." He added.

"How did you know?" He asked. Kam smiled.

"I have my sources Spike. You thought I wouldn’t find out. How else do you think I knew that the slayer would know where you would be?" She asked. Spike hadn’t thought. Of that.

"Yeah well it doesn’t mean anything." He said. Kam looked at him.

"I didn’t say that it did." She said. Spike smiled.

"But that’s what you meant." He said. Kam looked at him. There was something else. Something she saw in his eyes.

"What else is there Spike? What aren’t you telling me?" She asked. Spike shook his head.

"I don’t know what you’re talking about." He said. He turned and poured himself a drink. Kam walked around.

"Oh yes you do. I can see it in your eyes." She said. Spike didn’t look at her. Kam grabbed him and kissed him. He kissed her back but there was no passion in it. Xander made gagging faces. Buffy just felt as if she was going to be sick. Then he pulled away. Kam suddenly knew.

"You’re in love." She said. Spike drank his brandy in one gulp.

"Like I said, I don’t know what you’re talking about." He said. Kam shook her head.

"Look at what a hundred years has done to us. Drusila is gone. Angelus has a soul. Darla is dead and you…can’t even bite anyone and you’re in love. I never would have thought this is how my sire would end up." She said. Buffy and Xander gasped.

"Spike is Kam’s sire." Xander hissed. Buffy nodded.

"I knew he wasn’t telling us something." She said quietly.

"Yeah doll well a lot of things happen over the years. Like I told you once people can change." He said.

"But he isn’t a person." Xander whispered.

"We aren’t people Spike. Last time I looked in the mirror I didn’t have a reflection. How about you?" She asked. Spike shook his head.

"Yeah well things happen." He said. Kam looked at him.

"She’s human isn’t she?" Kam asked. She looked at him as is he was a sick dog.

"Who the heck is Spike in love with?" Xander asked. Buffy shrugged.

"Who would want Spike?" She asked. Xander smiled evilly in the dark.

"You did once." He whispered. Buffy elbowed him and he cringed. There was a lot of power in that elbow, he thought in pain.

"Listen I don’t know where you got this crazy idea but…" Kam stopped him.

"It’s in you eyes Spike. The same eyes that told me one hundred years ago that you were going to kill me and the same eyes that said you loved me when I woke up a vampire. You can’t fool me." She said. Spike sighed.

"I have to go." He said.

"She’s holding you back." Kam said. Spike didn’t look at her but he stopped.

"What?" He asked.

"Even if you can’t bite you could be feared but she stops you doesn’t she?" Kam asked. Spike didn’t answer. Instead he walked out the door.

Buffy and Xander looked at each other. There was something else going on that they didn’t know about. They quietly crept from below the window and they slipped out of the alley and into the street.

Inside her room Kam sighed sadly. She had lost her sire, her love. All children loved their sires. It was a given in their world. But tonight she knew that someone else held the heart of hers. And she couldn’t allow that.

"John!" She called. One of her minions entered. "Follow him. Tell me where he goes and who he sees. I want to know." She said. The vampire nodded and left. No one took what was hers.

"Ok we have to find out what’s going on." Xander said. Buffy nodded in agreement.

"I mean that Kam sounded really mad didn’t she?" Buffy asked. Buffy felt sorry for who ever it was that Spike was seeing.

Spike knocked on the door to room 214. There was no answer so he knocked again.

"Come in." He heard a voice call. He smiled and walked in.

"You know red one day it won’t be me at the door." He said. Willow smiled.

"Yeah well I don’t mind seeing you there though." She said as she stood up. She kissed him lightly.

"That’s all I get?" Spike asked. Willow smiled.

"You keep it up and the answer will be yes." She said. Spike smiled as she sat back down on the bed. She was studying as usual. He took his coat off and sat down behind her.

"So what are we studying tonight?" He whispered in her ear. Willow smiled. She turned and looked at him.

"Well I was working on calculus but now…" She smiled at him. "It suddenly got very hard to concentrate." Spike smiled at her.

"Who likes math anyway?" He asked. Willow smiled.

"I do." She answered. Spike smiled.

"Well I think we could be studying something better." He said. He brushed a piece of hair from her face.

"I’m listening." She said. Spike kissed her softly.

"Oh it doesn’t involve talk, love." He said. Willow smiled.

"Suddenly I’m very interested." She said. He kissed her again.

"So what do we do now?" Buffy asked aloud. Xander shook his head.

"That is what I am supposed to ask you." He commented. Buffy sighed.

"Well I don’t know. I mean this Kam doesn’t pose a threat to me just to who ever Spike is dating or whatever you could call it." She said.

Xander sighed.

"Yeah it is hard to imagine isn’t it?" He asked. Buffy nodded. Then she thought of something.

"Oh plan!" She said. Xander looked at her.

"What is it?" He asked. Buffy smiled.

"We find Spike’s girl." She said. Xander nodded.

"Then we can talk her out of dating him." He said. Buffy nodded.

"Better plan then I had." She said. Xander smiled.

"Well I feel that I have accomplished then." He said. Buffy smiled.

They opened the door to room 214 and they both gasped. Willow and Spike looked at them.

"Hi guys." She said sheepishly. She sat up on the bed and tried to tame her hair down a little. She knew this didn’t look good. Buffy and Xander just couldn’t talk. Willow looked at Spike and they looked at Buffy and Xander.

"Now that is a Kodak moment." He said. They both burst out laughing. Buffy and Xander continued to not speak. Suddenly Buffy snapped out of her shock.

"Ok Xander what was the plan again?" She asked. Xander looked at her.

"Um talk the girl out of whatever it was she was doing?" He offered. Buffy nodded.

"Yeah…right." She said. Willow stood up.

"Ok this doesn’t look that good and I know that," She started. Xander cut her off.

"Ok this looks down right wrong." He said.

"Hey! Watch it." Spike said. He stood up behind her. Xander looked at him.

"Watch what? You try and kill Willow?" He asked. Spike looked at him.

"I wasn’t going to kill her. In case the little brains you have left have gone on vacation I can’t bite remember?" He asked. Xander and Spike faced off. Willow didn’t like the looks of it. She stepped in between them.

"Ok listen I am dating Spike because I want to." She said. She looked at Spike and smiled. Buffy looked at them.

"You are dating?" She asked in shock. Willow looked at her and nodded..

"Yeah." She said. Xander felt Willow’s forehead.

"Ok you don’t have a fever so this has to be a spell." He said. Willow glared at him and Spike did too.

"You know I’ve about had it with you." Spike said. Xander looked at him.

"Oh yeah and what are you going to do about it?" Xander challenged. Spike looked at him.

"Oh I could do something." Spike said.

"Like what?" Xander asked. This time Buffy stepped in.

"Ok stop it!" Buffy ordered. "This is not why we were here. Well actually in all the shock I can’t remember why we came here first but I do know what we need to tell you." She said looking at Spike.

"What?" He asked.

"Well whoever that girl was she is after Willow." Xander said. Willow looked at Spike.

"What girl?" She asked. Xander sighed.

"The one he was kissing." He said. Buffy elbowed him in the gut. He doubled over in pain. This was the second time she had done that to him tonight. "What did I say?" He asked. Spike looked at Willow. Buffy knew this was not something she wanted to be around for. She grabbed Xander’s arm.

"You know we are just going to leave now." She said. She led Xander out the door but Willow didn’t even look at them.

"What girl?" She asked when Buffy and Xander were gone.

"I was going to tell you." He said. Willow looked at him.

"Well tell me now. What were they talking about?" She asked angrily. Spike sighed.

"Her name is Kam. She is an old friend of mine." He said.

"A vampire you mean." Willow added. Spike took her arm and sit down with her on her bed.

"Yes, but she’s just a friend that’s all." He said. Willow jerked her arm away.

"But you kissed her?" She said. Spike shook his head.

"No it wasn’t like that." He protested. Willow shook her head.

"Well then please explain to me what it was because I’m a little confused here." She said. Spike knew she was upset.

"She kissed me. She heard that I wasn’t with Dru any more and…I don’t know but I didn’t kiss her back." He explained. Willow was quiet for a moment.

"Did you make her?" Willow asked. Spike was taken aback by the question. Then he nodded.

"Yeah." He said quietly. "But let me finish." He said. Willow shook her head.

"I don’t think I want you to." She said tearfully.

"Willow please." He said. Willow stopped him.

"Just leave." She said quietly. Spike sighed but he knew there was no arguing. He picked up his coat and walked out the door. Willow fell on her pillow and began to cry. She didn’t even think she knew why.

Kam smiled as she saw him leave from the room. Oh so sad, she thought. Then she knocked on the door to room 214.

"Go away!" Willow yelled. On the other side of the door Kam smiled.

"Excuse me I’m from the advisor’s office." She called. Willow sat up and answered the door. She looked at the girl on standing there.

"Sorry I thought it was someone else." She said. The girl smiled.

"No problem." She said. Willow then realized she hadn’t even let the girl in.

"Oh sorry come in." She said. The girl’s smile grew.

"Thanks." She said. She walked into the room. Willow shut the door.

"So what did you need?" She asked. The girl looked at her.

"Actually I needed you." She said. Willow looked at the girl curiously.

"Why me?" She asked. The girl smiled.

"You and I have a common friend." The girl said. Willow didn’t recognize the girl at all.

"Who’s that?" She asked. The girl’s face slowly changed.

"Spike." She said simply. Willow looked at the girl.

"So you’re the one huh?" She asked. The face wasn’t even phasing her.

"Yes I’m Kam in case he didn’t tell you my name." Kam said. Willow shook her head.

"You’re what I was worried about. Please." She said. The vampire was startled.

"What is that supposed to mean?" She asked. Willow smiled.

"I was all worried that you were going to be pretty or something." Willow said. "Now I don’t see why I got so worked up." Willow saw this got Kam where it hurt. She was glad. In all actuality Kam was pretty but Willow really didn’t care. This little tramp is after my boyfriend, she thought.

"You have no idea what Spike and I have together." Kam said haughtily.. Willow shook her head.

"Um listen vamp girl you have no idea what Spike and I have and the hell with you." She said. That was the last straw for Kam.

"Come in!" She yelled. Suddenly the door opened and three very big vampires came in. Kam smiled. "Take her." She said. They grabbed Willow and covered her mouth. Willow struggled but it was no use. This is what happens when I open my big mouth, she thought miserably.

Spike sat in the Bronze sipping a beer. Life couldn’t get much worse. He really didn’t think he could hate Xander much more at this point. Then someone took a seat beside him. He looked at him and groaned.

"Don’t you ever do something?" He asked. Xander smiled.

"But this is my entertainment. Torturing you has never been so much fun.." He said. Spike sighed.

"Whatever mate." He said. Xander just continued to smile.

"So how is Will feeling about you now?" Xander asked. Spike glared at him.

"How do you think?" He asked. Xander nodded.

"Yea I think that she is two minutes from dumping your British undead butt." Xander said. Spike looked at him.

"Look back off. I don’t feel like having you stand over me and gloat about my mistakes." Spike said. Xander shrugged.

"Ok I’ll just comeback and gloat later." Xander disappeared into the crowd. Spike sighed in relief. But he was right about one thing. She probably was two minutes from dumping him.

"Hey Spike." He heard a voice say from behind. Spike groaned again.

"Hello Kam." He replied. She put her arm on his shoulder.

"How are you?" She asked. Spike shook his head.

"Oh I’m fine." He said sarcastically. Kam caught the tone.

"Well you don’t seem that way." She said. Spike got up.

"Listen doll the old times are over. You don’t know me anymore so don’t try to act like you do." He said and he stalked out the door. Kam wasn’t willing to let him go yet. If she had learned one thing from Drusila it was that their boys were easy to play with.

"Oh what’s wrong Spike?" She asked as they walked outside. "Is your little redhead mad at you?" She cooed. Spike turned around and looked at her.

"How the hell did you know that?" He asked. Kam smiled.

"I my sources." She said. Spike glared at her.

"Whatever. Listen I really don’t want to talk to you." He said. Kam sighed.

"Well it seems that in this town I’m the only one who wants to talk to you." She said. Spike turned his back to her.

"Shut up Kam." He said. Kam kept at it.

"Obviously human girls don’t really get us do they?" She taunted. Spike turned around and pushed Kam against the wall.

"I don’t want to hear another word from you." He growled. Kam saw that he meant what he said.

"Why is that Spike? Afraid to hear the truth? Humans don’t love vampires, it doesn’t work that way." She said angrily. Spike didn’t move.

"Let me tell you a little story Kam. Once upon a time there was a vampire. And he was the meanest vampire I ever knew. Well he got cursed you see and he ended up in love with a girl. A human girl might I add. Well she loved him back and in the end they ended up apart but they loved each other more then any two people I know. That’s how things can work." He said. Kam shook her head.

"It’s a fantasy Spike. What you have isn’t a curse. I can help." She said. Spike let her go and smiled.

"What you think that was about me?" He asked. He grabbed her arms and pulled her close. "That vampire, it was Angelus." He said. Then he let her go. Kam just looked at him in shock.

"That’s a lie." She said. Spike smiled.

"Well doll if you don’t believe me ask any one around. Every vampire knows the story by now. It’s like a legend. I mean after all the girl was a Slayer." He said. Kam didn’t know what to say. This wasn’t how things were supposed to work out. Spike began to walk away.

"I have her!" Kam called. Spike stopped and turned around. He looked at her carefully.

"You’re lying." He said. Kam shook her head.

"No I’m not. If you think I am then just check her room. You won’t find her." Kam said. Spike didn’t move.

"What do you want?" Spike asked. Kam shook her head sadly.

"I don’t know anymore." She said. Then a crowd of people walked in between her and him. When they were gone so was Kam. Spike turned around and began to race to Stevenson Hall.

Buffy was sitting in her room when Spike burst through the door. She didn’t move or even look at him.

"What’s the hurry?" She asked. Spike looked around the room.

"Where is Red?" He asked. Buffy looked at him curiously.

"I don’t know why?" She asked. Spike sighed and sat on Willow’s bed.

"We got into a fight and she told me to leave so I did. I went to the Bronze and ran into Kam and now I think she has her." Spike explained. Buffy jumped up.

"What do you mean? Your old girlfriend kidnapped Will?" She asked angrily.

"Calm down girlie. I don’t think Kam will do anything I just thinks she is trying to get me back." He said. Buffy looked at him stormily.

"You better hope she doesn’t do anything to Willow." Buffy said. Spike nodded.

"If she does I’ll stake her myself." He said. Then he walked out the door. Buffy looked at him in slight shock and then she followed him.

Kam sat in her apartment and thought about all that she had done since she had gotten to town. So far most of it had gotten her in trouble. The worst thing she had done by far was kidnapping the red head. She had thought Spike would come right to her but that hadn’t been the case. In fact it had only made him angry with her. Spike had never gotten angry with her. Suddenly she decided it was his little human’s entire fault.

"John!" She called. Her door flew open.

"Do you need something?" He asked. Kam looked at him panting as if he were a dog. The only thing he wanted was to make her happy. Why couldn’t Spike be like that?

"Yes," She said in an exasperated tone, "Bring me our guest." She told him. He nodded and left. A few moments later he returned with Willow. She was bound and gagged. John sat her down on a couch. Then he stood by the door.

"Leave us alone." She commanded. "We’re going to have a little girl chat." John just nodded and left. Kam sighed. He never got any of her jokes or witty lines. She definitely needed smarter groupies. Kam sat beside Willow and took off the gag. Willow didn’t say a word.

"So how do you like my place?" Kam asked.

"It needs a little light." Willow remarked. Kam nodded.

"Yes I know but you know how it is these days, everyone is into the dark motif but then I can’t say that I can blame them." Kam sighed.

"What do you want?" She asked. Kam smiled.

"I like that. You cut straight to the point." Kam paused and chose her words carefully. "Let me see basically I want what you have." She said.. Willow looked at her.

"What do I have that you could possibly want?" Willow asked. Kam stood up.

"You have Spike." She replied simply. Willow shook her head.

"If you wanted him you could just go get him yourself." Willow said. She motioned her tied hands. "I can’t exactly stop you." Kam nodded.

"Well that’s true but see I all ready tried that and it didn’t work.. Spike really seems hung up on you and I want to know why." Kam asked. Willow looked at her in slight amazement. She honestly didn’t know what Kam was talking about.

"Give me a break. Last time I saw Spike I yelled at him, basically called him a cheat, and threw him out of my room. I don’t think he’s that hung up on me." Willow said. Kam shook her head.

"Oh but he is. And you are too. I can see it in your eyes. You love him don’t you?" The question startled Willow. She hadn’t ever really thought about it. Then when she did think about it, to find the answer only took her a split second.

"Yes I do." Willow said. Kam sighed.

"God!" She yelled. "What is it with emotions?" Kam grabbed Willow by her throat and her face changed. Her evil yellow eyes stared into Willow’s green ones. "Well I don’t think I’m going to take anymore of it." She growled in a low voice. Suddenly the door burst open. Spike stared at Kam in full vamp face.

"Let her go." He said. Kam smiled letting the light flash off of her teeth.

"Make me." She taunted. Spike moved lightening quick and threw Kam up against the wall. She sat there in shock as he untied Willow.

"Go." He whispered to her. She nodded and she turned to go. He took her arm and gave her a quick kiss. "I love you." He said. Willow looked into his eyes. The same evil yellow as Kam’s yet in a way entirely different.

"I love you too." She said. Then she ran out the door. Outside the door she saw Buffy.

"What’s going on?" Buffy asked. Willow shook her head.

"I don’t know. Why are you here?" She asked. Buffy looked at Willow..

"I came because you were in trouble. But when we got here Spike told me to stay outside. He said that when you came out to stay with you."

Buffy and Willow looked at each other for a moment. Then they hugged. "He really loves you Will." She said. Willow nodded.

"I know." She replied.

Spike watched Kam as she stood up. They just stood for a moment and looked at each other. Then Kam spoke.

"You know after all these years I imagined a lot of things would happen to us but not this. Not humans coming between us." She said. Spike didn’t make a move. "We could take on the world and you…you only want a simple human girl. Not even to kill but to love?" Kam looked at him as if he were a bug. "I don’t understand." She said. Spike shook his head.

"I never asked you too." He replied. Kam looked at him.

"No you didn’t did you?" She realized. "But maybe I won’t let you rest until I do." She said. Spike sighed.

"Whatever makes you happy doll." He said as he began to walk out. Kam walked after him and spun him around to face her. Her face was human again. The same innocent face he had changed so many years ago.

"You make me happy and that’s what I want." She said. Spike let his face turn human again to.

"Well you can’t always have what you want." Spike said. He tried to free his arm but Kam wouldn’t let him go.

"Then I’ll just kill her." Kam said. Spike looked into her eyes and he didn’t see the innocent face anymore. All he saw was a bloodthirsty killer that he had created. Suddenly it occurred to him how Angel must feel every time he looked at Drusila or Spike or anyone of his children. Kam wasn’t that same little girl anymore. She was an evil creature of the night who would stop at nothing to get what she wanted, nothing at all. Then it occurred to Spike what he had to do.

"I’m sorry." He said quietly. Kam looked at him.

"For what?" She asked. In a split second he pulled out a stake. But he stopped just before staking her. A part of him couldn’t bring himself to do it while another part of him was ready and willing. She looked at the stake and then at him. "You couldn’t possibly do that to me." She said. Kam kissed him. It wasn’t a kiss of love though. It was a kiss of ownership. She thought she owned the world. She looked into his eyes. "You wouldn’t even be able too." She said. Then Spike just smiled.

"You bet I could doll." He said. And then he plunged the stake into her heart. She looked at him in that split second with pure betrayal and then she was gone. "Goodbye Kam." He whispered. Then he left and didn’t look back. He didn’t have a reason to. Everything he had was ahead of him.

Buffy and Willow stood up as Spike walked out the door. He put his arm around Willow and they walked down the street quietly. Spike and Willow looked at each other happily.

"So what happened?" Buffy asked. Spike didn’t take his eyes from Willow.

"Kam and I learned a lesson." Spike said. Willow looked away.

"What was that?" Buffy asked. Spike lifted Willow’s face toward him..

"The past can haunt you." He said quietly. Willow smiled and kissed him. Buffy rolled her eyes but she understood what he meant.

"Well I can see when I am in the way so I’ll just go now." She said.. Spike and Willow didn’t even hear her. Buffy sighed. "Talk about lost in the moment." She said quietly as she walked towards home.

Willow and Spike broke from their kiss and looked at each other.

"So does this mean you forgive me?" Spike asked. Willow smiled.

"I’ll think about it." She said. Spike put his arm around her and smiled. He looked at the little red head witch he loved and kissed her lightly on her hair. And together they walked off in the dark.
