Part One

Sunnydale streets were screaming in anticipation. Spike also known as William the Bloody walked the streets as if all was the way it should be. Well in a few hours any way, he thought. It was just a week a go that Spike had found him. A neurosurgeon who was interested in working on vampires. Spike had found him and after a little convincing the doctor agreed to take the chip out. Now here Spike was on this normal Sunnydale night heading toward his office. Just a little while longer, he thought, and little a particular Slayer will wish she never met me. Spike walked with a devious smile on his face.

"Hey Will!" Buffy said entering their room. "Xander and I are going Bronzing tonight want to come?" Willow looked over at her.

"Yeah sure." She said quietly. Buffy looked at her.

"Gee say that once more with even less enthusiasm." Buffy said. Willow smiled at her sadly.

"Well it's just that you have Riley and Xander has Anya. And What about Willow? Well as usual I am all alone." Willow said that a little more harshly then she had meant to.

"I'm sorry. I didn't even think. He is coming back you know." Buffy said. Willow looked at her sadly.

"You think so?" She asked.

"Oh please wherever he is he will not be able to find anyone like you. I mean who wants to date a were..." Buffy stopped. "OK cut that but you know what I mean. He loves you. He just needs time."

"I hope the time is almost up." Willow said sighing. Buffy gave her a hug.

"Trust me I know how you feel." Buffy said with a hint of regret in her voice. "OK but back to the main issue. Bronzing? Up for it?" Willow smiled.

"Yeah I'll meet you guys there in about an hour. I have to get this paper done." Willow said pointing to the computer.

"OK but be there or else I will come back and drag you there." Buffy said. Willow laughed.

The room was spinning when Spike opened his eyes. Everything was a bit blurry.

"Good your awake." Dr. Ellis said. Spike looked at him. He felt like he had the worst hangover in history. And he had, had quite a few good ones in his time.

"Well?" Spike asked. The doctor looked at him curiously.

"Oh the chip!" He picked up a small metallic square and handed it to Spike.

"This is it?" Spike asked in disbelief. It was hard to believe that something this small could have caused him so much trouble. "So am I cured?" He asked. The doctor smiled.

"Yes of course you are." He said.

"Well let's try it out." He said as his face changed. He bit the doctor before the doctor could blink. When he was done the doctor dropped to the floor dead.

"Yeah it worked." Spike said smiling. He walked out and didn't look back.

It was ten by the time Willow finished her paper. She walked the dark streets of Sunnydale. There was nothing out there that could scare her anymore. She had seen it all. Then she heard a scream pierce the night air. She looked to her right. There was a young blonde girl being attacked by a vampire. Willow grabbed a stake from her purse and whispered a spell of protection.

"Hey you!" Willow called. The vampire looked up and the girl fell to the ground. Willow was too late. The face of the vampire changed back to human and Willow gasped.

"Hello red." Spike said smiling. Willow started to back up. She could handle a lot on her own but Spike was not one of them. She began to run to the Bronze. Spike didn't follow her. He lit up a cigarette and began to walk in the direction she had run. There would be time for her later. Right now he had other stuff to do. Namely his biggest problem, the Slayer.

Willow ran straight into the Bronze. She spotted Buffy dancing with Riley and ran right to them.

"Buffy!" She said breathlessly. Buffy looked at her worriedly.

"Willow! What is it?" She asked.

"It's Spike. He's back." Willow said darkly. Buffy caught her meaning instantly. But Riley didn't.

"What do you mean back?" He asked confused.

"He can bite again." Willow informed him. Riley was still confused.

"That's impossible. The implant should keep him tame. No biting no hitting." Riley said. Willow sighed. Sometimes Riley could be impossible.

"Well what I just saw didn't fall into those two categories. He was definitely biting." She said. Buffy was still calm.

"Well then I'll just do what I should have done a long time ago. Kill him." She said simply. She walked out of the Bronze with Riley and Willow trailing her. Willow knew that walk. That was Buffy's "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not taking anymore" walk. Not a good walk for a vampire.

Spike walked up to the Bronze just as Buffy walked out.

"Hello Buffy." He said smiling. Buffy stared at him stonily.

"Can we just skip the formalities. I have a test in the morning and I would like to kill you as quickly as possible so I can go study." Buffy remarked. Spike kept smiling.

"Well I wouldn't plan on taking anymore tests. Not for a long time any way." Spike cracked. Buffy had enough. She threw a punch and hit Spike in the jaw. Spike looked at her. Then the fight began. They punched and kicked and tore each other up. Spike at one point had Buffy on the ground and went for her throat.

"Buffy!" Riley called. Willow held him back.

"Don't Riley. It'll distract her." Willow said. Then Buffy punched him and the battle raged on. Just then Xander and Anya joined them.

"What the hell..." Xander asked.

"Spike recuperated." Willow informed him.

"Well in that case," Xander said. "Kick that Brit's but Buffy!" He yelled. Spike growled at him.

"Xander please stop he can kill you now." Anya said.

"Good idea." Xander said. Then some other people started to come and see what was going on. Buffy and Spike both noticed this. They stopped and stared at each other.

"We'll continue this." Spike said walking into the dark.

"Counting on it." Buffy said. And with that he disappeared into the dark. "I have to go hunt him." Buffy said in a low tone. Riley put his hand on her shoulder.

"I really think you put the fear of God into him Buffy." Riley said calmly and with a hint of awe in his voice.

"Spike doesn't believe in God." Xander said.

"Well actually," Willow argued, "He did until Dru left him. Then he said that if there was a God even one who made a Slayer, he wouldn't separate soul mates."

"Spike doesn't have a soul." Buffy said confused.

"I know." Willow replied simply. Everyone just looked at her but Buffy caught her underlying meaning. Spike hadn't just been talking about him and Dru.

"Well the point is, is that Spike is a problem and he won't stop until one of us is dead. I would prefer it be him." She had that Slayer fierceness in her voice that meant there was no point arguing.

"Well the night was going good until now." Xander sighed.

"I guess we should call it a night." Anya said tugging on his arm. Xander caught her hint.

"Yeah so I'll see you guys later." He said smiling. He and Anya walked off. Single as always, thought, Willow thought.

"I might as well head home too." She said. Buffy nodded.

"You want me to walk with you?" She asked. Willow shook her head.

"No it's all right. I think Spike has had enough fun for one day." Willow sighed.

"OK then I'll meet you back home." Buffy said.

"OK, 'night Riley." Willow said walking off.

"'Night Willow." He called after her. He and Buffy held hands and walked back into the Bronze. As the crowd dissipated one lone figure remained. Spike took a step into a street light.

"No Red," Spike said, "My fun has just begun." He smiled and started to walk in the direction she had just left in.

When Willow got back to her room she laid down on her bed and just began to think. She fell asleep and was awaken by a knock on the door. Remember an incident eerily similar to this she decided to get up and answer the door. It was Tara.

"Hi Tara. What's up?" Willow asked.

"I was just wondering if you have spells for Janus." She asked. Willow nodded her head.

"Yeah I do." She went to her Wicca trunk and pulled out a book. "Here you go."

"Thanks," Tara said smiling, "I'd hang out with you but I have to figure out how to do this one spell I am working on." Tara said apologetically. Willow nodded understandingly.

"That's all right I'm beat anyway." Willow said.

"See you then." Tara said leaving. Then the phone rang. Willow ran to pick it up and left the door open.

"Hello." Willow answered.

"Hello Willow? This is Giles. I was just wondering if you've heard from Buffy? She came and told me about Spike and left to patrol but I haven't heard from her." He informed her.

"She's probably with Riley." Willow said. Giles was silent.

"Somehow that doesn't make me feel any better." Giles said. Willow smiled.

"Well if I hear from her I'll let you know Giles." Willow told him.

"Yes, thank you Willow." Giles said. He hung up. As Willow hung up she felt a hand slip around her mouth. She tried to scream but couldn't. The cloth over her mouth had something on it. Chloroform, she realized in horror. As she passed out the last thing she saw was a shock of blond hair.

Buffy got home around two a.m. When she walked in the door the first thing she noticed was that the phone was off the hook and Willow's Wicca trunk was open.

"Willow?" Buffy said. She looked in the bathroom. It was empty and so was the room. Buffy got worried. She picked up the phone and dialed Giles' number.

"Hello." Came a muffled voice.

"Hey Giles, it's me did I wake you up?" She asked.

"Yes but it's all right. What's wrong?" He asked hearing the worry in her voice.

"Um, I'm really not sure. Have you heard from Willow?" She asked with concern.

"Well I talked to her about and hour and a half ago asking if she'd seen you? Why?" He asked worriedly.

"Well when I got here she was gone. But she might just be over at Tara's. I'll call and see." Buffy said.

"Okay well let me know." He said. They hung up. Buffy looked Tara's number up and dialed. She really didn't care what time it was.

"Hello." Tara answered.

"Hi Tara? Its Buffy I was just wondering if you've seen Willow?" She asked.

"No I haven't why?" Tara asked confused.

"Um, no reason I was just checking." Buffy said. She really didn't want to get to many people involved in this.

"Okay then Buffy. Talk to you later." Tara said and she hung up. Buffy hung up the phone and began to pace. This could not be good. Not at all, she thought.

It was morning when Willow woke up. She could see the sun in the crypt she was in. She sat up. Her head was killing her. She looked around. She was laying on a stone tomb with a blanket on top. The only thing in the crypt besides that were a TV and a chair in front of it. She got up and walked over to the door of the tomb and tried to open it but it wouldn't budge. Great, she thought. She looked at her watch. It was eight o'clock.

Just then a door behind her opened.

"Rise and shine." Spike said. Willow backed up against a wall. Spike just smiled. "I really love being me." He said.

"What are you going to do Spike kill me?" Will asked. She sounded half-scared and half-defiant. Spike looked at her.

"No, I really wasn't planning on it. I was just planning to use you to lure Buffy here. Then you can do what ever the bloody hell you want." He told her. He walked over to the TV and turned it on. Then he sat in the chair and began to watch some soap or another. Willow went back to sit on top of the tomb. It was going to be a long day, she thought.

"So that's it!" She exclaimed. "That's all I'm good for? Bait to get Buffy?" She couldn't believe it. Spike looked at her confused.

"Are you mad Red?" He asked her. She fumed.

"Hell yes I'm mad. You have kidnapped me as bait for Buffy. I have no boyfriend and no life, my friends are ignoring me for their lovers, you won't even kill me and I'm missing my Shakespearean Lit class. So yeah Spike you can say I'm mad." She screamed at him. Spike looked at her in shock.

"Wow haven't you got a fiery temper. It matches your hair well." He said. That was the last straw for Willow.

"I am so going to kill you!" She yelled. She rushed him and he stood up just in time to miss her. She landed in the chair and Spike grabbed her and held her in a bear hug.

"All right your mad and I can see that but I am not going to kill you Red." He said into her ear. Willow stopped struggling. Instead she began to cry.

"I knew it. I'm not even bite worthy. I give up." She cried. Spike let her go and she collapsed into the chair crying silently.

Everyone was at Giles' house.

"Do you think Spike has her?" Xander asked. He was probably more worried than Buffy.

"I would bet Mr. Pointy on it." She said. She was mad. Who did Spike think he was?

"Well we have to find her. And right now daylight is our ally." Giles said.

"Right so we all split up and search the cemeteries. He has to be in a crypt somewhere." Buffy said. She, Xander, Anya and, Riley began to walk out the door.

"Buffy, if you find him what are you going to do?" Giles asked out of curiosity.

"I'm going to do what I should have done when he first came to your door. I'm gonna let him burn." Buffy said. She turned and walked out the door.

"How bad is Spike?" Riley asked Xander. Xander just looked at him.

"Well he likes to kill people, he has a thing for kidnapping, and he really isn't a nice guy. So I'd say pretty bad." Xander said. He wasn't in the mood to explain to Buffy's boyfriend about Spike. That would lead to Angel. And that was another issue he didn't want to talk about.

"OK. Thanks for clearing that up." Riley said.

"Uh, Red," Spike asked, "How are you doing?" Willow gave him a dirty look. "OK I'll take that as not good." He sighed. For some reason he couldn't stand to have her mad at him. Then he thought of something. "What class are you missing again?" He asked.

"Shakespearean Literature, why?" She asked. She wouldn't even look at him.

" 'There is a willow,'" Spike began to quote, " 'aslant a brook. That shows his hoar leaves in the glassy stream. There with fantastic garlands did she come, Of crow-flowers, nettles, daisies, and long purples That liberal shepherds give a grosser name But our cold maids do dead men's fingers call them.'" Willow looked at him in amazement. "It's from Hamlet." He told her. She just continued to stare at him.

"That was beautiful." She told him. "You read Shakespeare?" She asked. He just looked at her.

"Well I grew up in 19th century England." He said. She looked at little hurt. "Yeah I read Shakespeare." Willow perked up a bit.

"I love Hamlet." She said. Spike smiled. For some reason when Willow felt better he felt better.

"Yeah that's a good one. Shakespeare was a smart little wanker." Spike said. Willow laughed.

"Well that's one way to put it." She said. Her smile seemed to light up the dark old mausoleum. "What else do you like to read?" She asked. Spike was a little taken a back. He hadn't ever met anyone who cared how smart he was.

"Well all kinds of stuff. Just what ever I can find really." He said. Willow smiled.

"That's pretty much what I do if I'm not reading books on demons or witchcraft." She said. Spike smiled.

"Yeah you do seem to be the brains of the operation." He said. Willow gave him a curious look.

"How do you know?" She asked. Spike was speechless. He couldn't exactly tell her the stuff Angelus had told him.

"Well from what I've noticed hanging around is all." He said. Willow seemed satisfied with that answer.

"What's it like to live forever?" She asked suddenly. Spike looked at her.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"Well I mean you know that as long as you stay out of the sun and avoid a stake to the heart your not going to die. So what's it like to know that?" She asked. The question and the person it was coming from amazed him.

"Well it's wonderful I guess. Knowing there's nothing out there that can stop you, well besides the Slayer that is. It can give you a bit of an ago trip. Until the day you find out the one thing that can stop a vampire dead in it's tracks." Spike said.

"What's that?" Willow asked.

"It's love, Red. Just plain old black magic love. It can drive a vampire mad. Just look at Angel. Poor bloke has lived for 200 and some years happy and care free besides the blasted soul. Then one day he stumbles across the Slayer. Then there's me, I was just a dumb kid until I met Dru, then I was at the top of the world. Yeah Red, it's amazing what love can do." Spike looked away. Willow understood just what he met. But it hadn't taken her 126 years to figure it out.

"Yeah I guess you're right." Willow said. Spike looked at her.

"Well actually I know I'm right." He said. Willow rolled her eyes.

"Spike would you bite me if you could?" Willow asked suddenly.

"Well I can." He said simply, "And no I won't."

"Well why not?" She asked.

"Just because I won't." He said. Willow started to get mad again.

"That is not an answer. I want to know why." She asked.

"I don't have to explain myself pet." He said. Willow stood up.

"Oh yes you do. As my kidnapper I demand you tell me why." She stormed. Spike was getting mad.

"Because I don't want to!" He yelled. Willow still wouldn't accept that.

"You baby!" She yelled. "You're just too chicken." She exclaimed. By now Willow and Spike were just inches apart. The intensity in the tomb was electrifying.

"Fine! What do you want me to do? Bite you?" He yelled. Willow and Spike stared at each other with fierce passion.

"Yeah why don't you?" She dared. Spike looked at Willow fiercely. Willow was fuming. Moments passed and neither moved. Suddenly Spike grabbed Willow and kissed her. For both the earth seemed to shake. Then as if shocked, they jumped back and stared at each other.

"It's this way!" Xander said. He was leading Riley toward the voices he had heard. They had split up with Anya and Buffy a while a go. The search seemed hopeless until just moments ago Xander had heard shouting. Then suddenly it stopped.

"Xander I don't hear anything." Riley said.

"Voices don't just come out of graves." Xander said. Then he thought about what he had said. This was Sunnydale after all. But he was sure he had heard Willow. In determination he set off to find where they had come from.

"OK that didn't just happen." Willow said in shock. Spike just looked at her.

"No it didn't." He said. "We just imagined it or something. Or better yet it was just a really bad mistake." They continued to stare at each other. Then Willow smiled.

"That was some kiss though." She said. Spike smiled.

"Not to bad yourself Red." He said. Then they both sobered.

"Wait what are we saying?" Willow asked.

"Right this is bad." Spike agreed.

"OK no more kissing. That's final." Willow said firmly.

"Yeah we'll just stick to that. It's a good idea." He said. They continued to stare at each other. The room had intensified once again. Then Spike swept Willow into his arms and kissed her pasionatly. When the kiss ended Willow smiled.

"Well we tried." She whispered. Spike smiled and kissed her again.

"Xander headed to the Jones mausoleum. Riley was close behind.

"The voices were definitely coming from in there." Xander said.

"I think you're right. Hopefully not from the people buried in there." Riley said.

"OK you go around that way and I'll go the other way and we'll watch each others backs, got it?" Xander said. Riley nodded.

"Got it." Sometimes Xander really surprised him with knowledge and courage. Riley headed to the right and Xander to the left. On Xander's side all he could see was a single window. He crept toward it and peeked in. Suddenly he wished he hadn't.

"Riley!" Xander hissed. Riley appeared from the back. "For the love of God tell me they are not doing what I think they're doing." Xander pleaded. Riley looked in the window and turned white.

"Is that Willow? But she's-he's-they're-" Riley stuttered. Xander sighed.

"I guess that would be a yes they are, wouldn't it?" Xander said. "Come on. It has to be a spell or something, we have to go get her." Xander said. They headed toward the front of the tomb. Xander tugged on the door but it wouldn't budge. "Help me here GI Joe." Xander said. Riley grabbed the handle and they both pulled. After the third try the door finally opened. They barged in.

"It's worse then we thought." Riley said. Willow and Spike were looking at them from the top of the crypt.

"Is it safe to look?" Xander said. He had his hands over his eyes.

"Yeah it's safe. At least they haven't lost any clothes yet " Riley said. Xander gave Riley a dirty look. Spike got up.

"What the bloody hell do you two think you're doing?" Spike asked. Willow looked at them both innocently.

"We're here to get Willow." Xander said bravely.

"Oh no you're not, This is my home and Willow is my guest. Isn't that right love?" He asked. Willow looked at Xander sincerely.

"Yeah, what did you guys think was going on?" Willow said. She was trying her best not to laugh and she could tell Spike was too.

"But we..." Xander tried to talk but the words wouldn't come. So Riley tried to help him.

"We- we thought he had kidnapped you?" It ended up more of a question then a statement,

"I really don't know what you're talking about." Spike said. Suddenly Willow couldn't contain it anymore. She started to laugh and Spike joined her. Riley and Xander just looked at each other bewildered.

"You know what?" Xander said, "I am just going to walk out of here and pretend I never saw anything. And I'll never tell anyone this ever happened. How does that sound Riley?" Xander asked him. Riley looked at him a little confused then he remembered the really mad Slayer looking for Spike.

"Right, hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil." Riley agreed. Xander walked over to Willow and hugged her.

"I am just gonna tell Buffy we found you at your mom's. If you aren't home by tonight then I 'll. come after you." Xander said.

"Thanks Xander. I owe you one." She said. Xander smiled.

"No you're gonna owe me a million." He said. He walked away then he looked back at Spike.

"She gets hurt in any way then I'll kill you." Xander said. Spike smiled.

"Hell I give you permission to kill me mate." He said. Riley and Xander walked out of the crypt in shock.

"I am going to have nightmares for the rest of my life." Xander said unhappily. Riley nodded.

"You and me both pal. You and me both." He said as he patted Xander on the shoulder. In the tomb Spike smiled at Willow.

"Think we're safe?" He asked her.

"For now." She said. He kissed her.

"Well that works for me." Spike said. Willow smiled.

"You mean that works for us." She corrected.

"I don't know how we're going to explain this one Red." Spike said smiling.

"Who says we have to?" Willow asked. Spike just kissed her in reply.

Part Two

Willow woke up from a peaceful sleep. No bad dreams just a deep sleep. She looked around and remembered where she was. She sighed happily with her head resting on Spike's chest. Spike kissed the top of her head. She could see that it was now nightfall.

"You all right love?" Spike asked her. She smiled.

"I'm wonderful." She said sighing. Spike smiled. He felt like the happiest man in the world with the girl he loved in his arms. Interesting enough that that girl should be the Slayer's best friend but right now he didn't care. He was in love. Something that he had told Willow just that day could stop a vampire dead in his tracks. Well here is that vampire, he thought.

"Don't you think you oughta get home soon pet." Spike said quietly. He didn't want her to go but he knew that Buffy was probably still looking for her no matter what Xander said. Willow sighed.

"Just a few more minutes please." She said. Spike gave in. He realized he wouldn't be able to deny his red head love anything. He kissed her softly.

"All right love." He whispered.

"I can't believe she was just at her mom's." Buffy said. Xander and Riley had met up with her and Anya at Giles' place.

"Well that's where we found her. Sleeping like a baby." Xander said. Riley was trying to avoid his glance. Buffy didn't seem to notice though.

"Why didn't she even leave a note or anything?" Buffy asked.

"Well she said she was just wigged about Spike...and all and she bolted there." Xander was having a hard time trying to tell her all of this. Especially with the images popping into his head. This was rough. "But she did say she'll be home tonight. In fact she promised." Xander said praying Willow would keep that promise.

"Well I guess that's it. Gee I really jumped the gun on that didn't I?" Buffy said a little shamefully. Riley took her hand.

"Buffy you didn't know. It was a perfectly logical assumption." Riley said. Xander could tell Riley was having a hard time too. But Buffy was just happy to know Willow was all right. At least Xander hoped she was all right.

"Come on love." Spike said quietly. He was angry with himself for waking her up bet he knew she really had to go.

"Spike do you believe in fate?" She asked. Spike smiled. He was starting to love her sudden questions. As much as he was falling for her.

"Yeah pet I do." He said. She smiled. She sat up and covered herself with the blanket. The pale moonlight washed over her and Spike realized just how beautiful she was. She looked at him and smiled. Then she leaned back down and kissed him. Spike knew she was only delaying her departure but he didn't care. He took her into his arms and savored the moments they had together.

Xander stood in the Bronze with Anya. They had just arrived a few minutes ago with Buffy and Riley. He was searching the place for Willow in hopes that she would be there. But he didn't see her.

"Let's dance." Anya said. She was telling him not asking. Why do I always have to date such forceful women, he wondered? He danced with Anya while he searched for Willow. He could see that Riley was doing the same thing. When the girls sat down when the dance ended Riley and Xander went to the bar to get drinks.

"Have you seen her?" Xander asked anxiously. Riley shook his head.

"No I haven't. But I'm sure she'll be here." Riley said. Xander just sighed.

"I am having daymares just thinking about it." Xander said. Riley nodded his head in agreement. Back at the table the girls were talking about them.

"Is Xander a little distant tonight?" Buffy asked. Anya glared at her.

"Why are you noticing?" Anya asked. Buffy smiled.

"Because Riley is acting the same way. What do you suppose it is?" She asked. Anya just shrugged.

"Maybe the whole male bonding thing was too much for them." She said. Buffy just laughed.

"I bet your right." Buffy said.

"Men!" Anya exclaimed.

Spike and Willow headed toward her dorm. They held hands linked by their newfound love. When she got to the door she turned to him.

"I better go up on my own in case Buffy's up there." Willow said quietly. Spike smiled.

"It's all right love. I'll just head home." He said. He kissed her. Willow kissed him back wishing it could last. But the kiss ended. Spike touched her cheek.

"Spike...when..." Willow couldn't find the words for what she was trying to say. Spike put his finger to her lips.

"I'll meet you tomorrow in the park." He said. Willow smiled and she kissed him again. This one just to savor until tomorrow. Spike kissed her on her forehead and he walked off into the darkness. Willow smiled and walked up to her room. When she walked in she was alone. Thank God, she thought. She really didn't feel like talking to Buffy at that moment. Willow took a nice hot shower and got into her red flannel pajamas. She got into bed and closed her eyes. All she could think of was Spike kissing her. She drifted off to sleep wondering if she was in love.

Spike walked the streets of Sunnydale with his head high. He hadn't felt this way in a long time. Maybe I'm in love, he thought. He put his hands in the pockets of his duster and strolled along. Sunnyhell never looked so good. Then he saw Buffy. He was tempted to run but then Willow flashed into his head. So he walked right towards her. Buffy saw him and began to walk straight for him.

"Hello Buffy." He said pleasantly. Buffy glared at him. Thank God Willow isn't here, Xander thought.

"Look Spike let's cut to the chase. You want to kill me and I want to kill you. So lets just cut to it." She said. She pulled out a stake and was prepared to fight him. Spike put up his hands.

"Look Buffy, last night I wanted to kill you. But tonight that is the last thing on my mind." Spike said. Buffy wasn't buying it.

"Yeah right." Buffy said. Xander decided now was a good time to join in.

"Look Buffy maybe he's right. Now really isn't the time for a fight." Xander said. Buffy looked at him in surprise but he pointed to the people in the area. Buffy nodded.

"All right you get off for now." Buffy said. Spike smiled at Xander.

"Thanks." He said and he walked away.

"What was that about?" Anya asked.

"I don't know." Xander said innocently. They continued to head for home.

"I really hate him." Buffy said. Riley shrugged.

"Well someone must like him." Riley said. Buffy looked at Riley curiously and Xander punched him in the back. "I mean his mother must've liked him right?" Riley said quickly.

"I guess." Buffy said. "I just can't imagine loving a guy like that." Suddenly Xander started to laugh, for two reasons. "What?" Buffy asked.

"Oh I'm just remembering a certain engagement." Xander said. Buffy turned red.

"It was a spell." She groaned. Riley looked confused, and then it dawned on him.

"That was Spike!" He said. Buffy turned even redder.

"It was a spell!" She said. Riley just began to laugh.

Buffy got into the room and Willow woke up as the door closed. Buffy rushed over and hugged her.

"I am so happy to see you!" Buffy said. Willow hugged her back.

"Well I'm all right." Willow said. Buffy looked at her.

"I'm sorry I sent out a search party." Buffy said. Willow smiled.

"It's all right. I did kind of rush out." Willow said. She felt bad for lying to Buffy but she really didn't have a choice. Buffy smiled.

"So what else is new?" Buffy asked. Willow smiled.

"Not much really." She said.

Willow felt as if the day would never end. Her classes seemed to go on forever. Finally her last class finished and she rushed to her room. There she found Buffy.

"Hey Buffy what's up?" She said casually. Buffy shrugged.

"Not much. Bronzing with us tonight?" She asked. Willow groaned.

"I'd love to but I have to go to the library for some research stuff. Rain check?" She said. Buffy smiled.

"No problem. See you later." She said. As she headed out the door. Willow looked at the clock. It was two more hours until sunset. Willow smiled. Plenty of time to get ready, she thought.

Spike sat in the park twenty minutes after sunset. He tapped his fingers anxiously against the side of the bench. He had never been so nervous. He looked at everyone he saw in hopes that he would see her. Then he saw a way to familiar blonde.

"Oh no," He groaned as Harmony walked up to him.

"Hi Spike." She said as she sat down next to him. "Waiting for me?" She asked coyly.

"No Harm, I'm really not." He said. He was still looking for Willow.

"Well I would think you should be." Harmony said. Spike looked at her.

"Why?" He asked.

"To apologize." She said as if it were obvious. Spike shook his head.

"I am not going to apologize." He said. Harmony smiled.

"Well that's ok." She said. Suddenly she grabbed him and kissed him. Spike was in shock then he shook her off. When he looked over her he saw Willow standing a few feet away with tears in her eyes. Then she turned and began to run.

"Damn," He said. He jumped up and began to run after her. Harmony just sat there and began to pout.

"Willow!" he called. But Willow wouldn't stop she just kept running. Spike ran after her halfway through the park until he caught up with her and tackled her to the ground. She punched him.

"Let me go!" She yelled. Spike just kept holding on to her.

"No." He said. Willow stopped struggling and began to cry.

"I should've known." She cried. She turned her head away and wouldn't look at him. Spike sighed.

"Willow please listen to me." He said. But Willow just continued to cry.

"You jerk! I trusted you." She cried. Spike turned her head towards him.

"I didn't kiss her. She kissed me. I swear." He said. He saw the sadness in her eyes and it tore him up inside. She didn't believe him.

"What ever." She said. Spike got up and sat on the ground next to her. She sat up and looked away.

"Willow I wouldn't ever do that to you." He said. Then he realized why. "Because...because I love you." He was as shocked by his words as she was. She looked at him.

"You do?" She asked. Spike looked at her.

"Yeah I do." He said. He felt as if his world had shattered. He got up and began to walk away. Willow realized he was telling the truth and she got up and ran after him. She grabbed his arm. He turned to look at her. They stared at each other for a moment and then she kissed him. He wrapped his arms around her and she fell into them. The kiss ended and she looked at him.

"I love you too." She said. Spike smiled and brushed the tears off her face.

"Thank God," he said, "I was really out on limb there." Willow laughed.

"Now I guess we're both on it together." She said.

"Those are the kind of odds I like to play." Spike told her. He took her hand and they began to walk. As they walked Willow realized how much she cared for Spike. She realized how much she loved him.

"So what do you want to do?" Spike asked. Willow sighed.

"This is enough for me." Willow said. Spike smiled. He came to the realization that all he wanted was to make her happy. Spike spun Willow into his arms and kissed her. "Well this works too." She said. Spike kissed her again and it became more passionate. Willow wanted it to be more though. The kiss ended and Willow looked at Spike.

"Let's go back to my room." She whispered. Spike looked a little startled.

"Are you sure love?" He asked. Willow nodded.

"Yeah, don't worry everybody is out. And besides it's way more comfortable then your place." She teased. Spiked looked at her in mock hurt.

"You don't like my place? Poor little princess." He teased. She punched him playfully.

"Shut up and walk." She said. And with that they began to walk to Stevenson Hall.

Buffy had been patrolling for two hours since she had left the Bronze.

"No rest for the good guys." She sighed. She had seen and staked three vamps but no Spike. She walked along the street and ran straight into a blond girl.

"Harmony?" She asked. The girl looked as if she had been crying.

"Oh hi Buffy. You're not going to kill me are you? Because I've had a bad night." Harmony whined. Buffy smirked.

"No I'm not going to kill you. I'm looking for Spike, have you seen him?" She asked. Might as well make use of the conversation, she thought.

"Well I saw him earlier. I forgave him and everything, but was that enough? Of course not. Men!" Harmony began to cry. Buffy couldn't help but smile.

"Left you for another vamped up blond huh?" Buffy said. Harmony looked at Buffy in disgust.

"Hell no, when I kissed him he just ran after Willow like it made a big deal to her or something." Harmony said. Buffy looked at Harmony in disbelief.

"Did you say Willow?" Buffy asked.

"Yeah he ran after her." Harmony said. Buffy turned around and headed straight for Stevenson Hall.

"Figures." Harmony said.

Spike kissed Willow. They were sitting on her bed and it was getting late.

"I have to go love." He told her. Willow grabbed one of his boots and held them just out of his reach.

"No, I don't give you permission to leave." Willow said. He tried to grab the boot but feel over Willow on the bed. Spike kissed her gently.

"I have to pet what if Buffy comes?" He asked. Willow pouted like a little girl in love. A little girl in love with me, he thought.

"Let her come." Willow said. Spike smiled. He cupped he cheek in his hand.

"You'd regret saying that if she staked me." He said. Willow smiled.

"All right." She said as she handed him his boot. He put it on and began to look for his shirt. Then he realized it was the one Willow was wearing.

"Um...I'm going to need that too." He said slowly. Willow looked at the shirt and blushed.

"Oh yeah." Willow said. She grabbed some pajamas out of her drawer and head to the bathroom to change. Spike looked at her curiously.

"Why are you going in there?" He asked. Willow looked at him and smiled.

"Because you have to go." She said. Spike sighed.

"Good point love." He said. A few moments later she came out and handed him his shirt. Spike put it on and Willow handed him his coat. He kissed as he took it. It was a kiss that told Willow he didn't want to go anywhere. But she knew he had to.

"Go." She said softly. Spike smiled.

"I'm going." He said. He kissed her again. Willow smiled and began to push him to the door.

"Go." Willow said. Spike opened the door then turned once more to kiss her. "Bye." She whispered. He smiled and walked out the door. Willow closed then leaned up against it and sighed. A few minutes later the door opened. Willow turned around startled. It was Buffy.

"Buffy! What's wrong?" Willow asked in concern.

"OK let me start off by asking you where you really were yesterday?" Buffy asked. Willow sighed. Buffy knew. She sat down on her bed. A very messed up bed, Buffy noticed. She tried to shake that thought from her head. Willow looked at her.

"Honestly, I got kidnapped by Spike." Willow said. Buffy looked at her in shock.

"But why did Xander and Riley say you were at your mom's?" Buffy asked.

"That's the part that's going to take some explaining." Willow said.

Spike walked in the dark just happy to be him. Everything seemed different. Yeah mate, he thought, you in love.

"Spike." He heard a voice call. He turned around and saw Riley.

"What is it mate?" He asked. Riley looked worried.

"It's Adam. He was seen by some graveyard. Have you seen Buffy?" He asked,

"If I had seen her would I be standing here?" Spike asked. Riley smiled.

"Yeah you're right. You'd be dead." Riley started to walk off.

"Very funny mate." Spike shot back. But now he was worried. This Adam fellow wasn't exactly someone he wanted to deal with. He decided it would be safer to head home for the night. But Adam disappeared from his mind as he thought of Willow in his T-shirt.

"OK this isn't even possible!" Buffy exclaimed. Willow cringed. That was how she thought Buffy would take it. "You and Spike!" She said.

"Well yeah. He's actually very nice once you get to know him." Willow said.

"Willow you shouldn't be getting to know him. Look at everything he's done." Buffy said. Willow was hurt.

"I can remember another vampire we all forgave who did much worse." Willow said. Now Buffy looked hurt. Willow knew that had been low.

"That was different." Buffy said. Tears began to stream down her face and she ran out the door.

"Buffy wait!" Willow called. But Buffy was gone. Willow felt horrible. Angel had been different and she knew it. After all there had been a soul involved. She realized she should've just kept her moth shut. She got dressed and decided to go find Buffy.

Adam had been watching the blond girl He knew that she was his rival. So he decided to study her. He watched her fights and her with her friends. Friends, Adam noticed, were important to her. That is how he had come up with his plan to kill her. He would use her friends.

Willow walked through the park in hopes Buffy might be there. There really wasn't a lot of town to search. She heard a cracking sound behind her. She spun around but she didn't see anything. Then something hit her on the back of the head. The last thing she saw was darkness.

Buffy got back to her room in hopes that Willow would be there. She wasn't. Buffy knew she had been a little harsh and that she should've stayed and talked to Willow but what she had said about Angel struck a nerve that Buffy had thought was gone. Buffy somehow knew that no matter what she did she would never get over him. That was when she realized she should be happy for Willow, not mad. She got her books for her first class and headed out. On her way across the commons a girl she knew from one of her classes stopped her.

"Hey Buffy." Erika said. Buffy smiled.

"Hey Erika, what's up?" Buffy asked.

"Well nothing except some guy this morning asked me to give this to you." Erika said. She handed Buffy the note. The bell rang for first class and she waved bye. Buffy opened it and read it. Then she went into shock, and then she fainted.

Riley saw her just as she collapsed. He rushed over to her.

"Buffy, are you all right?" He shook her until her eyelids fluttered.

"Riley, Riley we have to help her!" Buffy said anxiously.

"Help who?" Riley asked.

"Willow." Buffy said in a tearful voice. Then she began to cry.

"Giles, what's up?" Xander asked as he walked in the door. Giles looked grim.

"It's Willow. She's been kidnapped." Giles said. Xander stopped dead in his tracks.

"Again?" He asked. Giles handed him the note. It read:

" Pray for the red

Her blood will be cleansed

She will be made holy

Unless I see you first

But time is short

The faster you find her

The better she'll be

Adam"

It was written in a child like scrawl that chilled Xander to the bone. He saw Buffy and Riley sitting on the sofa. Buffy was really upset.

"It's all my fault. I shouldn't have run out on her last night." Buffy said. Riley hugged her trying to comfort her.

"Why did you run out on her?" Xander asked. Buffy looked at him and then at Riley.

"You both know why!" Buffy said. Xander and Riley turned red. Willow's secret was out. But Giles was still confused.

"What are you all talking about?" He asked. Xander looked at him

"It's a really long story." Xander said. Then he looked at Buffy and Riley. "Well you two can sit here but I am going to find this psycho before he kills Willow. Buffy straightened up and nodded.

"Your right, but where do we start looking?" She asked. Xander looked at the note again.

"Church." Xander said simply. And he started out the door.

Willow opened her eyes. She tried to move but she couldn't. She looked at her arms and saw that they were tied down and her feet were as well. Great, she thought, kidnapped twice in two days. But this time the outcome didn't look like a happily ever after. She looked around and realized she was in an old church. Maybe this is a sign, Willow thought. Then she saw Adam.

"Hello." He said. Willow didn't speak. "It's all right. I understand you are sacred all though I myself feel no fear. But soon it will all be over. I promise." He said. He smiled at her. Willow began to tremble with fear.

By nightfall Buffy, Riley, and Xander had searched every church in Sunnydale and there was no sign of Willow or Adam.

"This is just great!" Buffy said angrily. She kicked a rock and it flew about fifty feet. Suddenly Xander thought of something.

"I have an idea." He said. He began to walk to Sunnydale graveyard. Buffy and Riley followed in confusion.

"What is it?" Riley asked. Xander kept walking.

"We are going to get the one demon who knows this town and cares about Willow." He said. Riley and Buffy just looked at each other in amazement.

Spike was just heading out of the cemetary when he saw Xander. Xander saw him too.

"Spike!" He called. Spike saw Buffy and was a little hesitant but she didn't seem to be ready to kill him.

"What is it mate?" He asked.

"It's Willow. Adam has her." Xander said. Xander suddenly had Spike's full attention.

"What do you mean he has Willow?" Spike asked. Buffy was surprised by the concern in his voice.

"He kidnapped her and has her at a church we just don't know which one." Xander said. Spike was now angry.

"I do." He said. He walked out of the cemetary and the three humans followed. No body kidnapped his girl, Spike thought.

Adam looked at Willow. He had been looking at her all day. It was like he was studying her.

"Do you realize what the scariest thing in the world is?" Adam asked suddenly. Willow shook her head out of fear more then an answer.

"To realize you are lonely. That no one in the world cares." Adam said. Willow shook.

"I have friends who care." She said in a small voice. Adam smiled.

"If you think so." Adam said. "But are they here?" He asked. Willow had a sinking sensation. Adam wasn't planning on waiting much longer.

Buffy recognized the church as the one Spike and Dru had held Angel captive in. It brought back a rush of memories.

"Hey I know this place." Xander said, "Isn't this where...." Then he remembered Riley. He just became quiet. Spike hadn't said a word. He was mad and no one was about to bother him.

"So you guys know this place?" Riley asked.

"You could say that." Spike said. Buffy and Xander expected him to say more but he didn't. For the first time Buffy realized he didn't care about them at all. He only cared about one thing and she was inside that church. Suddenly they were attacked by four demons. The demons overpowered them when ten more arrived to help. Then they began to drag them into the church.

"Ah the guests are here." Adam said as Xander, Buffy, Riley and Spike were dragged in. Willow could see them. Inside she was a little relieved. At least they're here, she thought. But she still didn't see a way out of this.

"Gee is this a party?" Buffy asked. Adam smiled.

"It soon will be." Adam said. His skewer came out of his arm. "I want to see what the reaction is if a friend watches a friend die." Before anyone could say anything Adam stabbed Willow in the side. Willow screamed.

"Willow!" Spike yelled. He went into game face and began to bring hell down on the demons holding him. Buffy, Riley, and Xander took his lead. While they were fighting Spike got up to the alter where Adam was. He was still smiling.

"Oh so you are more then a friend." Adam said. Spike growled. "So are you here to watch?" Adam asked.

"You're going to regret you ever touched her mate." Spike said. Adam looked at him thoughtfully.

"Really?" He asked. Spike nodded.

"Yeah really." He said. He punched Adam but it didn't seem to phase him. Adam grabbed Spike by the throat and threw him across the room. Spike just shook it off. He picked up a fallen piece of lumber and began to head toward Adam. Buffy was amazed at Spike. He wasn't going to stop no matter what. But Adam didn't care either. She knew she had to help him. Spike rammed the wood into Adam. It just knocked him onto the ground. For the first time Adam felt anger. This was his game and no one was going to beat him. Adam and Spike went hand to hand punching each other. Adam was strong on his own but Spike was strengthened by his anger. Finally the demons had fled from Buffy, Riley and Xander. The three of them stood in amazement as Spike fought Adam. Neither one of them was gaining the upper hand. They just kept fighting. Buffy saw that Willow had long since passed out from the wound on her side. This couldn't go on much longer. Xander saw that too.

"Buffy we have to do something." Xander said. Buffy nodded. She looked around to see if anything could help them. Then she saw a piece of the roof that was still in tact but not by much.

"Xander we have to drop that beam on Adam." Buffy said. Xander and Riley nodded. "I'll get Spike to grab Will and you two con drop it." She said. They nodded again. There was only one thing holding the beam and that was another one, which had fallen so all they needed to do was to push that one aside.

"Spike!" Buffy yelled. Spike looked at her and saw what Xander and Riley were going to do. He punched Adam one last time and ran to Willow.

"Willow, baby are you all right?" He asked. Willow was pale and barely breathing. He genlty lifted her up and began to walk off the alter.

"No one leave unless I say." Adam said. Spike just glared at him.

"Sorry mate, can't stay. I have to see about my girl." Spike said. He just kept walking out of the church. Adam growled. He began to chase after Spike but just as he did Riely and Xander pried the fallen beam loose and the beam from the ceiling fell on him. Riley and Xander raced out the door followed by Spike and Buffy.

"We have to get her to a hospital." Buffy said. Spike nodded. Xander looked back at the church.

"Well that wasn't too bad for one night's work." He said.

Spike paced in the waiting room of Sunnydale Hospital. Buffy had never seen him look so worried.

"Spike sit down before you wear a hole in the floor." Buffy said gently. Spike looked at her as if she had just realized he was there and he sat down between her and Xander. Just an hour a go they had brought her in. The doctors admitted her at once and since Buffy, Xander and Spike had been sitting in the waiting room. Riley decided he should go tell Giles.

"Spike she'll be all right." Xander said. Spike looked at him.

"Thanks mate but I'm still worried." He said. Xander nodded.

"You love her, don't you?" Xander asked. Spike just nodded. Buffy sat in a stunned silence. Then the doctor came out.

"Are you here for Willow Rosenburg?" He asked the three of them. They all stood up.

"Yeah we are." Buffy said. The doctor nodded and smiled.

" Well she's going to be all right. The wound was deep but it didn't hit any major organs. She will be in the hospital a few days though." The doctor said. Spike's shoulders sagged in relief. Xander and Buffy smiled.

"Can we see her?" Xander asked.

"Yes you can." The doctor said. "She's in room 119." Spike, Buffy and Xander rushed to her room. She was laying in the room staring at the wall. Buffy and Xander headed in but Spike just stayed out side the door.

"Aren't you coming?" Xander asked. Spike shook his head.

"I am just going to...wait." Spike said. He turned around and walked off. Xander looked at him in astonishment.

"After all that he just left?" Xander said. Buffy nodded in understanding.

"He's afraid." Buffy said. She remembered a time when Angel had walked away from her. After he had killed Darla at the Bronze.

"Afraid of what?" Xander asked.

"Afraid of love." She said.

Spike walked through Sunnydale. He had heard what Buffy had said as he left and she was right. He was afraid. He was afraid that Willow was going to die and then he was afraid that she wouldn't want to see him. He was beginig to hate this love thing.

Willow was released from the hospital two days later. She went home and just laid in bed. Spike hadn't come to see her the entire time. Buffy had told her that he waited in the hospital but once he heard she was ok he left. Willow didn't understand why but Buffy seemed to. Just them Buffy came in.

"Hey Will, hot are you feeling?" Buffy asked. Willow shrugged.

"OK I guess. How am I supposed to feel after a nut case monster uses me for shish kabob?" She asked.

"I don't know." Buffy said. Willow sighed. "You miss him don't you?" She asked. Willow looked at Buffy in amazement. Buffy smiled.

"Yeah I do." Willow said sadly. "What is he so afraid of? Me?" She asked sadly. Buffy sat on Willow's bed and hugged her.

"He's not afraid of you Will. He's afraid of hurting you." She said. Willow just looked at her sadly.

Spike sat in his tomb. He had heard Willow was out of the hospital but he wasn't going to go see her. She probably didn't want to see him anyway. Suddenly the door opened. It was Buffy.

"What are you doing here?" He asked. Buffy looked at him furiously.

"OK listen, I know I don't like you and you don't like me but this isn't about that. Right now my best friend is sitting home alone crying because the second love of her life won't come see her. Now I am taking a lot of offense to that." Buffy said. Spike sat up.

"Willow wants to see me?" Spike asked in disbelief. Buffy sighed.

"Yes she does. Not that I know why but she does. And if you don't get over there right now and comfort her I'll stake you." She said. Spike smiled.

"I'm on my way." Spike said. He began to walk out and he turned back to Buffy.

"Thanks." He said. Then he left. Buffy sighed.

"Why me?" She asked.

Willow sat in her room alone. I'm doomed to be alone, she thought. She listened to the radio as some love song played.

I don't wanna close my eyes

I don't wanna fall asleep cause I miss you babe

And I don't wanna miss a thing.

Willow sighed and turned the radio off. It wasn't helping her mood. Then she heard a knock on the door.

"Go away." She said. Someone knocked again. "I said go away." There was silence. Good, Willow thought. But then the knock sounded again. Willwo got up to answer the door.

"I thought I told you to..." She opened the door and Spike was standing there.

"Do you really want me to?" Spike asked. Willow looked at him.

"It depends on why you're here." Willow said. Spike smiled.

"I'm here to apologize." He said.

"Well I may accept but it's going to be difficult." She said.

"Well I guess that's all then." Spike said. Willow nodded.

"All right then." She said. Spike smiled. She's going to make me do this, he thought. He began to walk away then he turned around.

"One more thing." He said.

"What would that be?" Willow asked as if he was trying her patience. Spike walked over to her and kissed her. Any anger she'd had was gone now.

"I just wanted to say that I love you and I don't ever want you to get hurt again." He told her. She smiled.

"I love you too." She said. He kissed her passionately. She melted into his arms. The kiss ended. "You promise not to ever leave me like that again?" She asked. He smiled.

"I promise." He said. Willow smiled.

"All right then I forgive you." She said. Spike smiled.

"Thank you." He said. She kissed him lightly.

"Now come in here and make up to me properly." She said laughing. Spike smiled.

"I'm english pet, I tell you what's proper." He said as he walked in.

"Well then tell me." Willow said. Spike kissed her and they fell onto her bed. She giggled.

"Works for me." She said. He wrapped his arms around her.

"Think any one will ever get used to this?" He asked. Willow smiled.

"Do I look as if I care?" She asked. Spike smiled. This time Willow kissed him.
